Sight, Sound, Strength: Brooklyn Boulders Somerville
On May 2, 2018 the Usher Syndrome Society hosted our annual experiential fundraiser event at Brooklyn Boulders Somerville in Massachusetts to bring awareness and funding to support Usher syndrome.
The evening was filled with indoor rock climbing and bouldering for all levels, with the option to try an USH-simulated adaptive climb experience. Extreme athlete and disability advocate, Rebecca Alexander taught a high energy fitness class and also spoke to attendees about her experience living with Usher syndrome and losing both her vision and hearing.
Finally, portraits from the Shine a Light on Usher Syndrome Exhibit were displayed throughout the space so that participants could see the faces of the USH community and hear their many unique stories.
